#5 QUESTION

“What is the best method to attract sales people?”

I hear this one from dealers all the time. “If we only had more salespeople we could sell more cars and spend more money on advertising.”  Well, wake up and smell the profit you are letting slip away to a competitor. Get engaged and find a solution to hire more and better qualified sales people.

Just like you hire the best service manager, advertising company and used car manager, you need to hire the best recruiter in the industry to find you the proper sales team.

Many dealers think of how they did it back when they were coming up in the business and expect that the right person is going to walk through their door one day and want to sell for them. Surely this “could” happen but it is the exception and not the rule. Society has changed and the number of driven/determined people that want a career selling cars is proving to be less and less each day.

What I see working the best in today’s dealerships is the use of a third party recruiter or recruiting company that is hired to bring in the new talent. You can set your parameters if you want seasoned associates, green peas, or even people who would serve as product specialist/greeters. It’s all up to you, but to get the best results in the shortest amount of time you need to hire somebody to do it who does it day in and day out.

Dealers, GMs and GSMs have enough on their plates today that make finding time to recruit and hire difficult. Find someone who is well known and comes highly recommended and let them take this off your plate and fill your roster with qualified talent.
