There was some interesting commentary today made by a dealer regarding the potential government shutdown going on in Washington D.C. While finalizing a client’s fourth quarter advertising plan today, I thought this statement was a brilliant way to summarize what is going on as it pertains to car buyers in and around our nation’s capital.
“There is no shortage of money up here; there is a shortage of confidence.”
As in 2009 and 2010, there are just as many people out there who can afford to buy a car as there was 60 days ago. The difference now is that there are less people who want to buy a car because of uncertainty in the political drama that is playing out in our nation’s capital.
