Not only does Memorial Day come early this year, the travel group AAA has predicted some 37 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more away from home for the 2015 holiday. The number who will take advantage of the holiday by car is 33 million.
The total traveler figure is up nearly five percent from last year and the highest volume of Memorial Day travelers in a decade. These statistics are forecast for this year’s holiday which is defined as May 21 to May 25.
How can you capitalize? Eblast your customers with viable alternatives for service other than the usually busy weekdays and Saturday service. Promote early hours Monday through Thursday, make them aware of shuttle service, if you have express oil and filter capabilities, encourage appointments. If you want to inflate your tire sales put that coupon on the home page now. Most importantly be sure your customer base knows you want their service business.
With the highest volume of Memorial Day holiday travelers in 10 years don’t miss your opportunity to take full advantage of service. Don’t let them leave home without your next service sticker on their front windshield. As a reminder, go ahead and plan for Saturday, July 4th.
