Want to do yourself and others – that would be employees and customers – a favor that could earn some kudos for your dealership? Hire a part-time person to work in the showroom from now through the end of the year to be your company “elf”. We’re not talking about a big expense, but the pay-off could be incredible in terms of customer service.
Start with asking your staff if there is a high school age child, or maybe a college student home on break, who would be interested in making some extra money. If none available, check with a temp agency for possible candidates. But here is their role: now through Christmas, free gift-wrapping for employees and customers – send an e-mail telling your customers that this service is available while getting service, or while taking a vehicle for a test-drive. And this person would be available to run meaningful errands, like picking up a gift for someone special that slipped your mind.
I realize there are only a few days until Christmas, but keep them around for your year-end sales and assign them to assist in a myriad of ways, first and foremost in your child-care play area. If Mom and Dad come in with their young ones, they will appreciate being able to shop a little less burdened. I’m speaking from experience as I have two young ones of my own.
