I was discussing politics the other day with one of our dealers and our conversation led to how admired Ronald Reagan was as president.
Sure he had his moments and the media would hammer him when he made a mistake. But his overall public perception seems vastly different than that of our last few presidents.
This dealer said the one great thing he learned from President Reagan was to hire truly exceptional people. The dealer has always tried to abide by this concept with his business. He also emphasized while it doesn’t mean he is “hands off” or doesn’t pay attention to details, it is important to allow these exceptional employees to accomplish great things on their own without stepping in their way. His bottom line was that you need to hire people who are the best at what they do and then let them do it.
I thought this was cool and a helpful analogy to end the week.
