PR Newser is detailing the Hyundai & Kia strategy for making up with the customers who were duped by their false MPG claims.
“So what are Hyundai and Kia doing to assuage the situation? They’re reimbursing consumers by giving them debit cards filled with a monetary amount they’ve based on a confusing formula that accounts for the customer’s location, driving habits and fuel prices in their region.”
I can honestly say that I’ve never seen a company take it to this level to compensate the consumer. If I had to guess, the redemption rate on these debit cards will be very low – and most consumers will be confused by the calculation method.
This may wind up being one of the biggest “fails” of 2012.
